Bike relief Project - Acirfa: Zambian Bicycle Company
My partner and I started a company to help those in need in of transportation in Zambia, here's a quick preview of who we are and what we are doing...
Acirfa is a Zambian bicycle assembly company and service provider with the goal to develop and restore the country of Zambia via increased efficiency in transportation. The company will be set up to provide bicycles to already established Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s) in Zambia that need bicycles for their workers or to sell.
Our mission is: Acirfa exists to turn Africa around one bike at a time. Acirfa is a God centered service business that provides bicycles to the Zambian people that are affordable, self sufficient, assembled in country and profits earned will be reinvested back into the local community.
By providing bicycles to organizations, Acirfa will be able to supply high quality bikes into the hands of Zambians who need them most. Since the bicycles are assembled in Zambia, there will be a sense of national pride as the bikes will be high quality and made in Zambia.
Our clients include every Zambian who does not own a car but has distances to travel often, such as Pastors getting to training, home base care workers getting to their clients, and men and women commuting into town for work. This is the majority of the population.
Since there are two types of bicycles being provided, our customers will be receiving the ability to commute from A to B in addition to hauling large loads of goods with our heavy load-bearing bicycle. By owning a heavy load-bearing bicycle one has the means to work via transporting water and/or goods from rural areas into the city. By owning a bike Zambians are empowered to start their own businesses and have the tools to succeed financially for themselves and their dependents.
We are a start up business with a big vision and dream, and so far, we have seen God provide and open many doors for this venture.
Right now, we are planning on the first 300 bicycles to be received in Lusaka, Zambia by the end of September 2007 and our plan is to have 3000 moved there in 2008.
There is much more info about our business at our website: www.abikes.org
I continue to run into more and more organizations and groups with a heart for bicycles and empowering the developing world via bicycles. This excites me because there is definitely an over demand and not enough supply! We are looking to partner with and co-labor with any group or individual that shares our passion and vision to help those in need via bicycles, so please get in touch with us...email: info@abikes.orgoffice: (858)755-1299We're located in San Diego, CA until we leave for Zambia on July 30th, 2007.
